After nearly 15 years in corporate America, I needed a break from being a wage slave and returned to the family farm taking over as the manager of the operation. They are a lot of work but at least I don’t need a gym membership. Coming from a farming family, I am down to earth, straightforward, independent, low maintenance, easy going and a good listener, an optimist, not to mention very handy. You won’t have to nag me to dump the garbage, wash the dishes, put the dog out or scrub the john. I don’t judge; have the patience of a saint and a dry sense of humor (sometimes abstract) not to be confused with sarcasm. I am not PC and will call the plays as I see them, I state my opinions but I’m open to other points of view. I am not a redneck, a Luddite or a disaffected angry man “clinging to guns and religion”-to quote a politician. Friends describe me as settled/stable, safe, kind, resourceful, old-school, a MacGyver, a lousy cook and in positive ways still a kid. I have travelled extensively abroad, read a lot, travel in my job and literally and figuratively have been around the world. I can converse on a variety of topics, even abstract ones comprehensively and have no interest whatsoever in football or NASCAR. I love my mother but I am not a mama’s boy – I am my own man. My manhood doesn’t solely consist of what’s below the belt, and I do not own a motorcycle, or have beer buddies, tattoos or a prison record.
